SENIOR / MID LEVEL STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

We are looking for individuals who would like to play a defining role in the direction of the company and help us design for our clients and help build society.

Our work varies from private residential projects to, community buildings, sports and leisure, including sports facilities for professional football clubs. Although we have several CLT and glulam projects within the office, we also work efficiently with traditional materials such as steel and concrete and work effectively with natural materials such as straw and stone to help control our embodied carbon within our projects. We use materials in a responsible way.

We are engineers and also deliver walkway bridges, roads and underground drainage for our clients. We are technical designers working from first principles.

Your contribution to the office will be invaluable.

You will

• Have previous UK practice experience with a minimum of 3 years experience as a structural engineer.
• Be a thinker and curious, with the ambition to contribute to the growth of yourself and Tisserin Engineers.
• Be a keen learner.
• Care about our clients, the end user, environment and our society.
• Be chartered or near chartered.
• Excellent technical knowledge of construction methods and regulations. We can train you in the use of timber.
• Learning mindset and a proactive attitude.
• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
• Attention to detail is important.

Requirements and skills

• We use analysis software including RFEM, Tedds and GSA so you should have experience in structural analysis.
• Experience with Rhino and Grasshopper advantageous.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit.
• Degree in Structural Engineering.
• Member of the Institute of Structural Engineers (IStructE) or Member of the Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE)

Responsibilities

• Project running and commercial awareness.
• Conceptual design & low Carbon design and research.
• Managing projects through completion.
• Working closely with clients.
• Preparing structural design systems, ideas, and collaborating these with design calculations.
• Structural assessment of existing buildings.
• Managing and mentoring junior staff.
• Running small to medium sized structural design projects.
• Monitoring project progress, budgets and schedules.
• Liaising and collaborating with contractors, clients and architects.
• Creating structural analysis.
• Representing the company at design team and contractor/client meetings.
