Haringey Council’s proposal to provide  high-quality supported housing for adults with mental health needs, who are  ready to step down from intensive/high-cost residential placements into more  independent living. The proposal will provide 14 apartments and one office  for support staff. The proposal gained planning permission in 2022.

Purpose and unique aspects

The Council wanted to meet the Mayor of London’s zero carbon building requirements and build a small development with significant renewable energy provisions. The building will be highly insulated, incorporating green roofs, efficient heating and solar panels to keep running costs low.

Fabrication and detailing

The proposal will provide 14 apartments and one office for support staff in a part one- and three-storey building withaccessible parking spaces and cycle / mobility scooter storage facilities. The building will be highly insulated, incorporating green roofs, efficient heating and solar panels to keep running costs low.

Tisserin were appointed to design the crosslaminated timber frame, which reduced the embodied carbon by 137 tonnes, compared with a typical concrete structure
